Central-European International Bank Ltd. (CIB) was founded in 1979 as the first joint venture bank in the Eastern-European region. Currently CIB is a member of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, the largest banking group in Italy and a top-ranking player in the euro zone, with an average market share of approximately 20% in all business areas, offering its services to approximately 12 million customers in Italy and abroad.

In 2000 CIB began to establish specialised leasing companies, with the aim of leveraging as effectively as possible the benefits of group-level co-operation. Entering the market only in 2000, CIB Banking Group has since built out its leasing division in a unique manner, and with unparalleled success. Providing full range of services - such as car retail, car fleet, truck, machinery, real estate financing, and insurance broker services - CIB Leasing Group became market leader in 2002 and it still keeps its first position. The Leasing Group offers its services with a widespread branch network supported by quick evaluation of applications.

Despite strengthening competition and declining market opportunities, the operations of the CIB Leasing Group were again characterised by substantial dynamism in 2006: capital placements grew to EUR 716 million, while the net earning assets amounted to EUR 1.421 million at the end of the year. As a result, the CIB Leasing Group once again headed up the list of domestic leasing companies last year, achieving a market share of 17% (based on the amount of capital output), according to the data of the Hungarian Leasing Association. CIB Leasing has minority ownership in Serbian leasing company called Intesa Leasing Beograd and plans to expand its activity in the coming years in Romania and Ukraine.
